Since the outbreak of coronavirus in Bangladesh started, Grameen Fabrics and Fashions Ltd has been making PPE gowns to protect doctors, nurses and health workers with financing from Grameen Telecom. Grameen Telecom has also put together sets of imported KN-95 masks, hand gloves and protective goggles and distributed those free of cost to selected hospitals. Grameen Telecom continues with its efforts, with its limited capacity, to ensure the protection of doctors, nurses and health workers providing uninterrupted services to corona virus patients.
Up to today, free PPE gowns and masks have been distributed to 24 hospitals and institutions. Besides, PPE gowns, masks and other protective gear have been provided to 11 hospitals in 7 divisional cities outside Dhaka. Thus, Grameen Telecom has provided health care equipment to 35 hospitals and institutions across Bangladesh.
Most recently it has provided 4,300 high-quality PPE gowns, 10,000 KN-95 masks, 2,050 protective goggles and 10,000 hand-gloves to eight (8) more hospitals to ensure safety of the doctors, nurses and health workers providing medical services to corona virus patients in Dhaka divisional city. These are Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Khanpur 300 Bed Hospital Narayanganj, Railway General Hospital Kamlapur, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, SAJIDA Foundation and Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital.
Grameen Fabrics and Fashions Ltd., with financing from Grameen Telecom continues to produce high quality PPE, and with the approval of the Department of Health. Grameen Telecom is distributing imported masks and other protective materials to the hospitals and members of various organizations engaged in combating the coronavirus. These efforts will continue until the crisis of the corona virus has been effectively tackled.
